Day 1 - July 19, 2014 - Cape May, Nj. to Washington D.C.
Today was uneventful over all. Mom and I packed up Tycoon with all of our stuff, made sure all the pets were set and squared away while we are gone. Mom is riding with me to Chicago on my Going West trek out to San Fransisco for the start of MTTS. She is going to visit with her sister and Aunt and all the cousins for a few days after I leave to continue Westward HO.
Heading out of Cape May selfie
Tycoon is all ready with her magnets thanks to Todds Mods and her vinyl states map thanks to Kristen at Artistic Reflections and new stickers like our rally names thanks to Joanne at Stuck on MINIs. So she looks good, for sure!
We set out from Cape May, Nj. , aka home, around 10 in the morning aiming for Washington D.C. and visiting with friends Sara and Tyler. Sara P. is going to be my navigator for the first week of the rally, flying out to meet me in San Fransisco. So it just made sense to pick up her suitcase on the way westward and make a pitstop of it!
Mom an I had a great drive, chatting pretty much the whole way. Unlike some of the poor shoobies who were stuck on 347 trying to get to the shore. Let me tell you, it was the worst I think I've ever seen it heading down. A solid parking lot from the end of Rt. 55 all the way down Rt. 347 through the lights in Dennisville. We saw several MINIs heading the wrong direction! Where are you guys going? You should be heading WEST!! Westward HO!!
Leaving NJ over the Delaware Memorial Bridge
Tolls, tolls, and more tolls.
Now let me rant a bit. DRIVE RIGHT PASS LEFT people!!! I cannot tell you how awful it is when everything is moving along just right and some jackass is just cruising in the left lane going as slow as a turtle. It's times like this that I want a windshield banner that says this.
But regardless we made it to D.C. without too much traffic. Got to visit with friends Sara P., Tyler, Duane, and Sara K. and have a great dinner. Oh, and thanks Duane for helping me set up the blog.
Off bright and early on one of the longest treks of the trip, straight to ChiTown! See you soon Aunt Linda and crew!
